My favorite songs for Save the Date videos

·

You can shoot the most beautiful couple in the world, but if the song underneath doesn't sit right on the emotion, the video falls apart. Here are the songs I keep closing Save the Date edits with, and how I pick between them.

Couples ask me the same question before every Save the Date shoot: “What are we going to hear underneath?” Music isn’t decoration you glue onto a video after it’s done. It’s half the work. A song turns a close-up smile into a moment worth crying over, or turns it into something cute but flat.

After three years of editing Save the Date films, I have a playlist I keep going back to. Not every song fits every couple, but these are my baseline, the starting point for every new edit.

How I pick a song for a video

Before I start editing, I listen to the song three or four times with the raw footage open next to me. I’m looking for three things:

There’s a fourth thing I don’t measure but I feel: the song has to sound like you. If it’s not a song you’d play in your own car, it won’t sit on your video, even if it’s technically perfect.

My playlist for Save the Date edits

עטיפת השיר Nothing Burns Like The Cold

Nothing Burns Like The Cold

Snoh Aalegra ft. Vince Staples

Atmospheric and slow. Holds long shots without pressuring the edit.

עטיפת השיר Les feuilles mortes

Les feuilles mortes

Livia Blanc

Nostalgic French classic. Throws the video fifty years back. Right for couples looking for a timeless feel.

עטיפת השיר Je te laisserai des mots

Je te laisserai des mots

Patrick Watson

Piano and soft French. The song I use when I want an intimate moment that doesn't speak to anything external.

עטיפת השיר Summer Is for Falling in Love

Summer Is for Falling in Love

Sarah Kang

Light and sunny, great for shoots at the sea, on the beach, or in a field. When you want the video to smile.

עטיפת השיר I Wish

I Wish

Ziv Moran

An Israeli artist I like to put in when the couple wants local identity without staying strictly in Hebrew.

עטיפת השיר Young and Beautiful

Young and Beautiful

Lana Del Rey

Big strings and drama. The song I pull out when there's a cinematic moment that deserves that scale.

עטיפת השיר Until I Found You

Until I Found You

Stephen Sanchez

Turns any video into a 1950s wedding. A romantic ballad, effortless.

עטיפת השיר The Oogum Boogum Song

The Oogum Boogum Song

Brenton Wood

Vintage soul and happy. Perfect for couples who want a playful vibe instead of overly sweet.

עטיפת השיר A Thousand Years

A Thousand Years

Christina Perri

The classic. Build lands around the 50-second mark, and I build the whole edit around it.

עטיפת השיר Beanie (Piano Version)

Beanie (Piano Version)

Penguin Piano

A delicate instrumental version. Great when I want the lyrics not to pull attention away from the image.

עטיפת השיר Beanie

Beanie

Chezile

The version with the lyrics. Delicate, clean result, fits quieter films without a lot of motion.

עטיפת השיר Hotline (Edit)

Hotline (Edit)

Billie Eilish

Dreamy and modern. For couples who want a film that doesn't feel like another Save the Date.

עטיפת השיר Glimpse of Us

Glimpse of Us

Joji

Minor-key, beautiful piano. Surprisingly sits great on happy moments, adds depth to them.

עטיפת השיר Evergreen

Evergreen

Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners

Acoustic and natural. My song for shoots in open landscapes, in winter, or at dusk.

How to pick your song

If you’re stuck, here’s the process I recommend to couples:

And if you’d rather I just pick, that’s fine too. Send me one word about the mood you want (“romantic,” “playful,” “seaside,” “cinematic”) and I’ll match a song from this playlist. The film will land on your heart, I promise.
